Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia introduces the sporty and practical Lancer Sportback 2.4

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia introduces the sporty and practical Lancer Sportback 2.4

October 21, 2010

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia, the official importer and distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles, unveiled the new Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback today. The arrival of the fully-imported Lancer Sportback from Japan expands the Lancer range in Malaysia, which includes the GT and EX sedans.

The Lancer Sportback is a sporty five-door hatchback variant of the Lancer family, powered by a strong 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with 170 PS at 6,000 rpm and 226 Nm of torque at 4,100 rpm.

"The new Lancer Sportback is set to create a new sporty trend in the passenger car market - it is a good all-rounder that's sporty, good to drive and practical, ideal for those with a modern lifestyle, without compromising on space. With the biggest engine in its class and sport-tuned suspension, the Sportback will excite enthusiastic drivers. There's an equal measure of sharp handling and good ride comfort that will please both driver and passenger," said Tetsuya Oda, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia.

With the largest capacity engine among C-segment vehicles in Malaysia, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia aims to sell 50 units of Lancer Sportback per month. As of August this year, the non-national market share for Lancer is 7.5%, with an average of 150 units per month.

Available in three colours (Lightning Blue, White Solid and Black Mica) the Lancer Sportback's introductory price is RM129, 363.80 (on the road excluding insurance).

30 special edition Lancer Sportback LE with Ralliart accessories were also launched today. Priced at RM130, 831.80 on-the-road excluding insurance, the Lancer Sportback LE features a re-styled sporty exterior with gun metal rims, re-painted front grille and sporty carbon fibre design on its rear bumper. Its Ralliart accessories include stickers and emblem, front bumper foil, fog lamp ring and scuff plates. The interior is enhanced with race-inspired re-designed Nappa leather seats with red and orange stitching.

The 16-valve DOHC engine with Mitsubishi's proprietary MIVEC technology is paired to an INVECS-III Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with a 6-step Sports Mode. This gearbox combines efficiency and seamless progress with the involvement of a manual transmission. It comes with magnesium steering wheel paddle shifters that enable drivers to shift gears with both hands on the wheel.

With sport-tuned fully independent suspension which incorporates front MacPherson strut and a rear multi-link system, the Lancer Sportback offers a good ride and handling balance. A front strut tower bar that further sharpens handling is standard on the Sportback. Large 18-inch wheels with wide low profile 215/45 tyres contribute to both sporty looks and good roadholding. Braking duties are handled by front ventilated discs and solid rear discs.

The Lancer Sportback has a full suite of active and passive safety features. Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control, ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) help keep the car on the chosen path while dual stage SRS driver and passenger airbags offer added protection. The Lancer Sportback's rigid RISE body structure plays a key role in protecting occupants in a crash.

Far more than just a sporty driver's car, the Lancer Sportback is a truly practical proposition. Created for those with active lifestyles, the Sportback boasts a variety of cabin configurations, ease of use and generous space.

The large boot has a height-adjustable floor that can either create a "hidden compartment" or provide extra 90 mm depth. The process is a quick and easy one-handed operation.

Similarly easy to use are the 60/40 split folding rear seats for long cargo. There are latches on both sides of the cargo area that folds the seats once pulled. This is also a one-handed operation that can be performed when one's hands are full - no stretching required. A tonneau cover keeps prying eyes away.

The Lancer Sportback comes with an extensive list of standard equipment. The front sport seats and the rear seats are covered in full Nappa leather. The sporty three-spoke steering wheel, gear knob and parking brake lever are also leather-wrapped. All occupants will enjoy the automatic air-conditioning and 2-DIN LCD touch screen entertainment system, which has six speakers and steering wheel audio controls.

Automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers are among the convenience features for the Sportback driver, who will also enjoy cruise control (with buttons on the steering spoke) and sports aluminium pedals.

The new Lancer Sportback comes with a 3-year/100,000 km warranty. Mitsubishi's 2-Year Free Maintenance package is also offered for owners to enjoy a hassle-free drive with free maintenance parts and labour costs.

What Is the Gold Lancer?
By Nick Lewandowski, eHow Contributor
updated: November 3, 2010
I want to do this! What's This?

The Gold Lancer was originally included on the Collector's Edition of "Gears of War 2" for the Xbox 360 as a bonus item. In early 2009, an apparent error made it available for a limited time on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

The Gold Lancer
1. The Gold Lancer is -- as the name suggests -- a gold-plated version of the standard Lancer machine gun featured in both "Gears of War" games. It was included in "Gears of War 2: Collector's Edition" to encourage customers to pre-order the game.
Obtaining the Gold Lancer
2. The prerequisite for obtaining the Gold Lancer was owning the Collector's Edition of "Gears of War 2." The DVD case included a redemption code, which could be entered into the Xbox Dashboard. After entering the code, the player would have access to the Gold Lancer in multiplayer games.
"Public" Release
3. In late January 2009, the Gold Lancer was briefly available on the Xbox Live Marketplace, prompting widespread criticism from gamers who had paid upward of $60 for the Collector's Edition of the game. A Microsoft spokesperson later told Joystiq.com that this was a technical error, and that the company would remove the Gold Lancer from the Xbox Live Marketplace to keep it exclusive to Collector's Edition customers.

lancer diesel

He has been waiting for him, but Mitsubishi finally has a diesel engine for the Lancer sedan.

It makes the difference.

Pegs 1.8-liter road tax at € 156 and compresses the fuel consumption of 5.3l/100km (53mpg).

The Japanese-made engine will cost € 22 995 from the factory. This seems a little steep, but the company has a lot of material packed and sold, fortunately a lot of confusion between the levels of specification.

And there is a three-year/100, 000 km warranty.

Standard equipment includes air conditioning, 16-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition, cruise control and multifunction steering wheel wrapped in leather, nine airbags (including a driver's knee), electronic traction control, front fog, and a signal system shutdown.

C. The 150 new pair of 1.8-liter diesel with a six-speed gearbox and variable embraced the company distribution system, which Mitsubishi claims a world first for a diesel engine in a car.

A long time coming, but it sounds like maybe the wait will be worth.

We just have to wait and see.

Mitsubishi plans to sell up to 700 in the coming years.

DYESS AIR FORCE BASE, Texas --- A Dyess Air Force Base B-1B Lancer carried a full load of 24 AGM-158 Joint Air-to-Surface Stand-off Missiles on a flight over the Gulf of Mexico, Sept. 7 -- a first for the B-1 and AGM-158.

"The mission was a success," said Maj. Brian Owe,, the chief of wing weapons and tactics. "Everything went as planned, and we can verify that the B-1B can in fact operate its full capacity of JASSMs."

The purpose of the flight was to ensure maintainers, ammo and munitions Airmen and B-1 aircrew are proficient in uploading, flying, employing and downloading the AGM-158 JASSM and to test all missile-related processes to see if there's room for improvement. None of the missiles were released during this test; they were system-checked while in the air.

"Maintainers loading 24 JASSMs on one B-1 is a record-setting event," said Senior Master Sgt. Jeff Rud, of 7th Maintenance Group. "It's never been done before. The main reason we're doing this is for training. It's the cornerstone of all we do. It provides us the opportunity to hone our war fighting skills and gives us the opportunity to project our combat capability right here out of Dyess (AFB)."

The B-1 is the most capable JASSM employment platform in the world, Major Owen said.

"We've seen the engineering specs that say it's supposed to work, but it's never been done before," Major Owen said . "What makes the B-1 unique versus the other aircraft around the world is that we can employ these weapons on such a large scale. We can take off with two aircraft and have the capability to strike 48 different targets."

The second most capable aircraft is the B-2 Spirit, carrying 16 JASMMs, followed by the B-52 Stratofortress with 12.

The AGM-158 JASSM is designed to keep the jet and its crew a significant distance away from surface-to-air threats while still holding an enemy's targets at risk.

The AGM-158A is a stealth cruise missile powered by a Teledyne CAE J402 turbojet that uses flip-out wings with control surfaces and a single vertical tail for flight control. It's guided by a jamming-resistant, GPS-aided inertial navigation system and uses an imaging infrared seeker for autonomous pattern-based target selection and terminal homing.

The missile is armed with a 1,000 pound WDU-42/B insensitive munitions penetrating warhead, and accuracy is quoted within 8 feet. It is also equipped with a data link to transmit status and location information until impact, thus assisting in bomb damage assessment.

"I've been in the aircraft maintenance business for more than 24 years, and anytime you have the opportunity to do something first, it is a real morale booster," Sergeant Rud said. "It gives us here at Dyess (AFB) bragging rights, and that goes a long way in terms of building pride in your unit and pride in the aircraft you work on. I have found that people love to do their primary job, whether it's ammo line delivery crews delivering bombs or weapons loaders loading bombs.

"It's in these moments that people get energized when they see their part of an operation come together with the other pieces of the puzzle that makes them feel good about what they do," he said.
